If you're working out how to stop losing appointments because you can't answer, in 2026 you have three roads: a marketplace (Booksy, Fresha, Treatwell, Planity), a generic AI chatbot (there are dozens), or an assistant that works in your own channels like ClaudIA. All three promise «more bookings». They don't do the same thing, they don't cost the same and they don't suit you in the same situations. Let's go through it — cards on the table, because every option has its own ground.
The underlying difference: whose client is she?
Before any table, the question that orders everything. On a marketplace, the client books in their app: the relationship, the data and the habit belong to the marketplace (and often the commission does too). With a chatbot or with ClaudIA, the client writes to you — to your WhatsApp, your Instagram, your phone — and everything it generates is yours.
That doesn't make marketplaces bad: their traffic is real, and for a salon that's just opened it can be the initial push. But it changes the maths: the marketplace rents you visibility; your own channels are already yours, and half of all bookings are asked for outside opening hours — the question is who answers them.
The comparison, point by point
| **ClaudIA** | **Marketplaces** (Booksy, Fresha…) | **Generic AI chatbots** | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Handles your WhatsApp and Instagram | ✅ Natural conversation, 24/7 | ❌ That's still on you | ⚠️ Replies, but usually stops at FAQs |
| Handles your phone | ✅ With a natural voice (Pro plans, Spanish number today) | ❌ | ❌ Almost none |
| Actually books into your calendar | ✅ Real calendar per professional, combos, changes and cancellations | ✅ In their app, with their flow | ⚠️ Many only «take a note» and you confirm |
| Cost of growing | ✅ Fixed fee, no commission per booking | ⚠️ Commission plus acquisition cost | ✅ Usually a fixed fee |
| Brings you new clients | ⚠️ Through your Google listing, your QR and your Instagram (booking button) | ✅ Their marketplace has its own traffic | ❌ |
| The data and the relationship | ✅ Yours (and protected, GDPR) | ⚠️ Largely the marketplace's | ⚠️ Depends on the provider |
| A professional client record | ✅ History, colour formula with versions, how she likes to be treated, tags | ⚠️ Basic record | ❌ |
| Anti-no-show | ✅ Reminders + deposit + a waiting list that refills gaps | ✅ Card on file (their strong suit) | ⚠️ Simple reminders, if any |
| When a human is needed | ✅ Steps aside, texts you and you reply | — | ⚠️ The endless bot loop is what they're famous for |
| Proves what it's contributing | ✅ Reports: appointments and money it has brought you, where each client came from | ⚠️ Metrics for their channel | ❌ Rarely |
When I'd choose each one (genuinely)
Choose a marketplace if you've just opened, nobody knows you and you need traffic now, accepting what it costs. It's advertising with a calendar built in. Plenty of salons use one for a season and then reduce their dependence as their own client base grows.
Choose a generic chatbot if all you want is something that gives out your opening hours and address at eleven at night, on a minimal budget. It's better than nothing — but don't confuse replying with booking.
Choose ClaudIA if you already have clients writing to you (even a few) and what you're losing are the appointments nobody answers: the night one, the Sunday one, the one that comes while your hands are in a colour. There you don't need to rent traffic; you need your channels to convert on their own. And if you're torn between this and hiring part-time reception, the honest answer is to do the sum with your own local wage costs — ours are worked out for Spain and we'd rather not export a figure we haven't checked where you are.
What this comparison won't tell you
No table decides for you. Each provider's terms change, and this comparison reflects what was published in Spain in July 2026 — every market has its own line-up and its own prices, so always check the current offer where you are. And your particular case rules: your area, your clients, your moment. Which is why the best way to compare is to see ClaudIA running with your services and your calendar, not with a canned demo.
And if you come out of the demo thinking a marketplace suits you better right now, we'll tell you so too: we'd rather have a salon that comes back in a year than one that regrets it in a month.
