How much your salon loses by not answering the phone (with numbers)

Updated 2026-07-17 · 2 min read

Ask yourself an uncomfortable question: how many times does your phone ring while your hands are in a colour? You can't pick it up, and nothing happens… until you add up a whole month.

The calculation, no smoke

The sum is simple and you can do it with your own figures in the calculator:

your average appointment price × appointments that slip away each month × 12 months.

If your average ticket is around £35 and you only lose two appointments a week, that's about 8 a month: £3,360 a year that never comes through the door. And two a week is a conservative estimate for a busy salon.

Where those lost appointments come from

It's not that you handle the phone badly. It's that you can't be in two places at once:

The honest part: not all of it is recoverable

It would be a lie to say every missed call is a lost client. Some of them try again: they ring back, they message, they walk in. That one you hadn't really lost.

The one you do lose is the person who wants an appointment now and, getting no answer, tries the next salon on the list. That client doesn't try you a second time. And she is, as it happens, the easiest to win: all it took was somebody answering straight away.

Always answering, without cloning yourself

This is where an assistant comes in that replies 24 hours a day, instantly and without getting flustered by handling several conversations at once. ClaudIA answers your WhatsApp and your Instagram, and with the voice assistant it picks up the phone too when you can't —without changing your number—, checks your real diary and books the appointment on the spot.

It isn't about replacing you: you pick up the phone when you can; ClaudIA, when you can't. The difference, by the end of the year, is that column of appointments that used to slip away.

Do the sum with your own numbers in the [losses calculator](/calculadora).
